Combat Rules

All combat is handled in rise through our custom dice hud [available on the sim landing], or through freeform.

So with that in mind,

Welcome to Dice Combat 101

Over the course of the next hour we’re going to be teaching you…. Okay, so we’re totally kidding, but we will be giving you a quick rundown on dice combat. Dice, most often used in table top games such as D&D, Pathfinder, Vampire the Masquerade, and more.

First we need to determine why you are rolling your dice.

While roleplaying there are [generally] a limited reasons that you will need to roll dice. Some of these reasons are

• Attack • Block/Evade • Stealth • Detect • to determine success of an activity

There are two different ways to roll your D20.

  • the first way to roll dice will always be against another person. When rolling against someone else, you will Post your intent, roll your dice, and they will roll against you. The player with the highest dice roll wins.

  • The second way to roll dice is to determine the success of an action without rolling against a player, like picking a lock. In this scenario, a roll over 10 is a success, and a roll under 10 is a failure.

    .:For Example:.

Post Order Rules

Post order is broken down into a few different categories.

•Structured: as each person posts into a scene they will then continue to follow the same order in the scene. Amy > Jack > Sarah > Sam > Repeat

•Basic: The idea behind this is simple. You do not have to make an order or follow it. You can post freely, as long as you do so in a way that lets everyone else have near equal posts as you.

•Free For All: Anybody can post any time they want. *

*[this is generally only used in large event situations as in a general post order it can be considered rude, and make others feel left out.]

Rise Roleplay suggests operating on a structured post order for all combat scenes.
